Claire E. Smith

Lab Director
Dr. Smith (she/her) is an Assistant Professor of Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the University of South Florida. Her research on occupational health psychology studies how work intersects with leisure time (e.g., stress recovery), health behaviors (e.g., sleep), and lifespan approaches to health and well-being (e.g., chronic conditions, health disparities). She is passionate about interdisciplinary research and real-world impact. In her free time, she enjoys racket sports, cooking projects, befriending stray cats, and seeing movies in the theater.

Savannah Flak (she/her) is a second year I-O doctoral student. Prior to starting the program, Savannah worked for two years as a Research Associate for Fors Marsh, a research consulting firm, where she supported recruitment research for the U.S. Army. Building on her social psychology expertise regarding body image and eating behaviors, Savannah's current research interests include workaholism and social support. In her free time, Savannah enjoys tending to her many houseplants, singing, and spending time with her two cats.

Stevie Boettcher (she/her) is a second year USF I/O PhD student.  Her research focuses on teams, tech-enabled assessments, AI, and Human-Agent Teams (HATs), as well as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging (DEIAB). In her free time, Steph enjoys practicing yoga, staying active at the gym, and dancing. She also loves playing video games, spending time with loved ones, and volunteering with the Florida Rat Rescuers Network, the largest rat rescue organization in Florida

Oghenekaro Imieye (she/her) is a first-year Ph.D. student in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. She recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (Go Sooners!). Her research interests focus on employee health and well-being, particularly how work and family life intersect and shape one another. As she continues to develop her research interests, Karo is excited to engage with the dynamic field of I-O psychology and contribute to understanding the connections between work and personal life. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, staying active through workouts, and trying new recipes.

Matthew Weirick Johnson

Matthew “Matty” Weirick Johnson (they/them) is a second-year PhD student in Educational Research, Evaluation, and Measurement. Their research focuses broadly on health, ranging from employee health, wellbeing, and burnout to intersections with gender and sexuality, such as PrEP usage and direct-to-consumer advertising of medical interventions to queer and trans people. In their free time, they enjoy supporting Tampa Bay sports teams.​
